Book Review and Giveaway – Mrs. Buttkiss and the Big Surprise

About the Book
Mrs. Buttkiss and the Big Surprise is the charming tale of a big woman with a big secret.

She’s been holding in a fart….forever. And she’s terrified of what will happen when she finally lets it out.

Kids are guaranteed to laugh out loud when they “hear” Mrs. B’s big reveal. And everyone will love the heartwarming message: The things that make you different make you special. So don’t be afraid to share your unique differences with the world!

So what happens when Mrs. B finally lets it out? Will her greatest fears be realized? Or will the outcome be . . . magical?

About the Author
The story of Mrs. Buttkiss comes from a delightfully UNLIKELY source: Eric Rosenfeld–a Harvard MBA and nationally recognized expert in investing and corporate governance. Rosenfeld has served on 17 boards of directors, is on the faculty of the Directors College and is a regular guest lecturer at Columbia Business School. He created the tale of Mrs. B 10 years ago, to teach his own children the importance of being open, honest and happy. Now Rosenfeld has brought his story to life with the help of award-winning illustrator Vicki Gausden. Gausden’s bold, quirky style and eye for color have made her one of the UK’s most sought-after illustrators.

About the Illustrator
Vicki Gausden is an award-winning illustrator and hand-letterer with a Masters Degree in design from the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland. Her bold, quirky style and eye for color have made her one of the UK’s most sought-after illustrators. She immediately fell in love with Mrs. B. and knew she had to bring her —and her whoopee cushion–to life.

My Take on the Book
In reading this book my first impression was “really???” a children’s story about a fart that takes on a life of its’ own? When Iread the story, I could see how kids would probably find it funny. I men, what kid doesn’t find farts funny.

As an adult and a parent I have mixed thoughts on the book. The illustrations are great and the story is well written, yet I tend to try and have my girls read redeeming stories about life and about things that will help them in life. Now believe me, I defnitely allow them to read fantasy stories that some peple would probably question as well, so this book may also fall in this realm as well.

So for me, I read the story to my eldest and she did find it funny She actually wanted me to read it again and again, so can say that a five year old enjoyed it.

Otherwise you would have to determine for yourself whether you would feel comfortable reading it to your own child.

If this book sounds like something that you would like in your own library, you can find it on Amazon!
